Hard Work

Hi all you bloggers,
Hope that this week finds you all well and staying cool!

henever you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em, "Certainly, I can!" Then get busy and find out how to do it.
- Theodore Roosevelt

Have you ever been ask if you know how to do something that you have never done before?  What do you do?

I am that person who likes to be able to do a little of everything so I always tell the person who is asking that I have never actually done that before but would love the opportunity to learn.  If you read my profile you will see that (unfortunately I guess) I tend to not stay in the same place for more than a few years.  It seems like after a few years I loose interest in the repetitiveness of whatever position it is and feel the need to learn something new and move on.  All of my jobs have been in some type of management or ownership but after a few years I get that crazy urge to move on to something new.  I have always worked hard since when you are learning a new craft you need to put in that extra effort to get it right and be the best at it.  Now I am attending school to become a nurse and I am much older than during the years of moving from skill to skill.  I know that it is definitely time to stick to something that I enjoy and build up a little retirement.  What I find with the nursing field that really attracts me is that there are so many different areas to attack that if I get board with one I can learn a little more and move about in the same hospital.  When I spent 3 years in Panama I loved helping the doctor.  It was like going back into time to when you saw on doctor and he knew a little about everything.  He did not refer you to someone who specialized in that area but instead treated you.  I know that in the states we have much better medical care because we are referred to specialists but when you are out in the middle of nowhere with no one to help you other than this one doctor you are very, very blessed to have him. I worked very hard there with a seven day a week schedule and someone who was very anxious to teach.  The doctor could see that I wanted to learn and so me was willing to teach me many things.  I can assist with sewing up your machete cut, I can help deliver your baby.  I can identify many different types of skin infections and treat them.  I can give you breathing treatments, and perform an EKG.  I can assist with a sonogram or pelvic exam and believe me the list goes on and on. I love to work with people who are willing to share their knowledge and teach. This quest for knowledge is what has always lead me to enjoy hard work.

  2. Hey, Monica let just say I feel the same way about life stuck on repeat. We are not meant to stay in one spot we have to go out and discover new things in my opinion. I am also studying to become a nurse it has always been my dream to work in a place where people help others. Although I have never been to Panama I have been to Honduras, which can relate and yes these doctor do know a little about everything, which I must say I kind of love. My cousin is graduating soon in Honduras to become a doctor, and if I am lucky enough to make my dream come true, I hope to go to Honduras for a few years and open up a clinic with my cousin to help those who are in desperate need. That would make my life complete, nothing else could compare than to seeing this happen. Well that is all I have to say, and good luck on becoming a nurse. :D
